Albert Ross Tilley

It is important to remember those people that did great things for human kind.

Dr. Tilley was one of those.

He understand the psychological impact of burns and made sure to create a community of “Guinea Pigs” of what is now considered what we call our peer support groups.

He knew that the reconstruction of the spirit was as important as rebuilding the bodies of his patients.

The Guinea Pig Club, secretary who could not use his hands to take notes, treasurer in a wheelchair who could not run off with the funds

Patients were taken out to the community as soon as they could stand or navigate in some way, many in various stages of their facial reconstruction

The burn centre at Sunnybrook Hospital is named after him.
