Connect with fellow members of the burn community, discover valuable resources, and recognize that you are not alone in your journey of coping. Engage with speakers, partake in activities, enjoy refreshments, and explore additional offerings at the event. Includes Speakers, Seated Yoga, Art Therapy, Therapy Dogs, Kids Activities, Drum Circle, Massages, & Onsite Therapist.

Ticket Prices:

$20 per person ages 18 and up

$10 per person ages 10-17

$5 per person under 10 years

Mental Health First Aid: Informed Evidence Based Care for both Self & Others

Cindy will provide an overview of Mental Health First Aid, how this valuable training can help anyone learn more, and do more, to help themselves and others step towards improved mental well being on a journey of recovery.

Who is Cindy?

Cindy Krysac, Mental Health Advocate

Cindy Krysac is an International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW 353) electrician, enjoying a rewarding career in the trades after decades as an academic physics researcher and educator. Cindy has been advocating for mental health awareness and solutions for over twenty years and has been part of advisory committees and boards including for Toronto Police Services, The Family Association for Mental Health (FAME), and Trillium Health Services. She was a co author of FAME's stakeholder contribution to the Toronto Police Services Review "Police Encounters with People in Crisis” and was awarded SPARK training from The Mental Health Commission of Canada, using the training to help young people emerge as confident peer and community mental health advocates.

Cindy is an experienced and trusted Mental Health First Aid Canada Facilitator; she has taught Mental Health First Aid to over 1600 participants. She applies evidence-based teaching methods to create an effective and comfortable learning experience, while inspiring participants with her knowledge and passion for mental health awareness and actions.

Cindy is currently The IBEW 353 Pathway Project Lead https://electricpathway353.ca/ , keeping very busy as a fundraiser, administrator, trade theory instructor, and Mental Health First Aid facilitator.

General Fire Safety Presentation

Description

Our presentation includes important fire safety information on Fire Prevention, Detection and Escape. We discuss safety tips on cooking, smoking, candles, electricity and heating which are the main causes of fires in the City of Toronto. We also encourage and promote smoke alarm and carbon monoxide installation and maintenance. And last, we explain what to do if there is a fire. Whether you live in a house or a high rise building, there are certain things to know on how and when to escape.

 

Speaker Info

Jade Wang is a Fire and Life Safety Educator with Toronto Fire Services. her role as a Fire and Life Safety educator is to provide fire safety education to children and adults through presentations and events. she teaches people about how to prevent fires from happening and emphasizing the importance of early detection of fire through smoke alarms and preparing a safe Escape Plan.

Fall Scenic Walk & Lunch

Enjoy a scenic fall nature walk this Thanksgiving long weekend!

Take a stroll through the Charles Sauriol Conservation Area and enjoy the beautiful urban forest.

This trail is a 5.6-km out-and-back trail and part of the extensive East Don River Trail system which has an array of wildlife and plant species.

The walk will be followed by lunch at CF Shops at Don Mills Jack Astor's.

⏰TIME:

📍Meet up - 1PM at CF Shop and Don Mills Starbucks (6 Pabst Ln, Toronto, ON M3C 0H4)

Walk - 1:30PM-2:30PM (1 Hour)


🚊 Transit: Attendees taking transit will receive a ride via carpool by a volunteer, 5 mins to & from the walking trail.

💸COST:

- Walk is free

- Lunch at Jack Astor's will require payment

🎒What to bring:

-Optional: If you are joining the lunch portion of the event, please bring a valid I.D and payment method

- Wear comfortable walking shoes and clothes for the walk

- Pack snacks and refreshments as needed
