The Role of Family and Friends in Acute Care of Burns

This talk will discuss the critical role played by family and friends in the emergent and acute phases of the survivor journey.

Lois Budd, RN, BSN

Graduated in 1970 and has worked in a variety of areas including paediatrics, heart surgery, ICU/CCU and burns.

  • Has worked with burns throughout her career including 25 years in the VGH Burn, Plastic, and Trauma Unit. Began as a staff nurse, then Nurse Clinician, and lastly Head Nurse (Patient Services Manager) for 17 years. .

  • Has served on the Board of Directors for the BCPFF Burn Fund since 2008 to present.

  • Has served on the Board of Directors for Easter Seal 2020-present.

  • Worked 4 years in New Zealand.

  • Also managed the Hyperbaric Unit, Med/Surg Outpatients, Speech, Language, Pathology Team at VGH.
